Senior Center Shuttle ServiceThe Falmouth Center Center Shuttle Service is available to seniors for shopping, medical appointments, and other needed destinations within the town of Falmouth. It is required that the seniors make prior arrangements (48 hours notice) for the ride with the Senior Center by calling 508-540-0196 Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. The Senior Center Shuttle Service will not operate when the Falmouth schools are closed due to inclement weather.
The shuttle is available for medical appointments every morning, Monday through Friday (except Thursdays and Holidays). Grocery Shopping for seniors will be scheduled on Thursdays only.
As a general procedure, the senior should be available for pick-up 1 hour prior to the scheduled appointment. The senior will be dropped off at the required destination. When the senior is ready to go home, the senior must call the Falmouth Senior Center to say they are ready for pick-up to go home. The Shuttle will pick up the senior as soon as their schedule permits (15 to 60 minutes) and take them home.
For seniors who are not able to manage the Senior Center Shuttle schedule, or if the schedule is full, transportation to a doctor's appointment is available from our Volunteer Medical Transportation program.
Volunteer Medical Transportation Program
The Volunteer Medical Transportation Program offers rides for medical appointments to any town on the Cape and to Plymouth for those seniors who are unable to use the VanGo minibus. The senior will be picked up at their home and driven to the doctor's office. The volunteer will wait at the doctor's office for the senior, at the conclusion of which the senior will be driven back home. Donations for the Transportation Program can be made accordingly:
- Falmouth - $3
- Hyannis - $8
- Mashpee - $5
- Plymouth - $10
- Sandwich - $5
- Yarmouth - $10
Boston Hospital Transportation (BHT)
The Cape Cod Transit Authority runs the Boston Hospital Transportation (BHT) bus which goes to many Boston medical facilities several times each week.
Reservations for the trip must be made prior to 11:00AM. the day before the appointment by calling 800-352-7155 between 8:00AM and 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. See the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) website for the latest schedule and fares.
All medical appointments must be scheduled no earlier than 10:00AM and must be completed by 2:00PM The buses are wheel-chair accessible.
The Medivan runs on Tuesdays only and leaves from the front of the Ticket Office in Woods Hole at 7:30AM, going to all of the major medical institutions in Boston. Reservations must be made by calling 508-693-9440. The fare is $30.
Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART)
Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority runs the DART-bus, which serves the 15 Cape Cod towns Monday through Friday, and most of the towns on the week-ends. The b-bus is wheel-chair accessible and also accessible to people with other mobility aides and physical limitations. The bus will pick customers up at their homes and return them to their homes at the conclusion of the trip. Reservations must be made by calling 800-352-7155, 508-790-2613, or for TTY service 508-385-4163.
The DART-bus is a shared ride bus service and because of this, passengers may have to be picked up as much as 1 hour early in order to serve all of the passengers. Try to be as flexible as possible when using this bus. Reservations may be made up to a week prior to the desired ride and must be made no later than 11:00AM on the day prior to the desired ride.
