The first step is to determine whether the lot meets the current required lot size. View our Current Schedule (PDF) of required lot sizes in each zoning district. If the lot is non-conforming (does not meet the current requirements) it may still be buildable if it is protected under the Massachusetts General Laws. To receive an official Buildable Lot letter signed by the Building Commissioner you must submit a completed Buildable Lot Packet (PDF), which is also available at the Building Department.
