The (IT) Information Technology Department (formerly Data Processing) was formed over twenty five years ago and is responsible for providing maintenance, research and development for all hardware and software technological efforts for all town departments. This includes mainframes, servers, PC's, scanners, cameras, PDA's, projectors, phone systems and town-wide networks (wired and wireless) T1's and DSL's.

IT manages web page development, email, licenses and software (both packaged products and in-house development).

The G.I.S. (Geographical Information Systems) Department is a sub-department under IT.

For the public, the IT department provides access to as much data as possible as permitted or required by the department that has jurisdiction over that data:

• On-line access to property data base


• Town Hall (Assessor and Building DP) Counter Access to property data base


• Provide CD ROMs of Property data base ($35)


• Provide CD ROMs of Census data base ($35) - no children under 18


• Provide Listings or Labels of property, census, moorings, boats, dogs, etc.


• Town Meeting Member Labels and Listings


• Town Meeting Presentations and projection support
