To preserve the historical character of the buildings and their settings in the historic districts through the review of plans for new construction, and for renovation and demolition of existing structures. All work visible from a public way within the districts requires a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Commission before a building or sign permit can be granted by any town department. HDC Office Hours The HDC does not have regular office hours scheduled at this time. Applicants are directed to contact the HDC phone number at (508) 495-7458 and to leave a message if they have any questions related to an application for Certificate of Appropriateness. A representative of the HDC will respond to inquiries as soon as possible.
