The use of automatic sprinkler systems (irrigation) is banned per Order of Selectman as of July 28, 2020. Enforcement will begin with public notification in the Enterprise on Friday July 31, 2020. The ban is necessary as we are unable to provide safe and reliable water to our customers during the early morning hours when automatic sprinkler usage is most common. With the heat this summer and customers staying at home demand is 20% greater than last summer and we are utilizing all our sources, as well as storage from the tanks in the early hours of the day. Customers will receive a warning on first offence and water service will be shut off on subsequent offences. Hand held watering of plants is not prohibited. Private wells that supply an irrigation system, registered with the Board of Health are also exempt from the ban. The ban will be lifted once the department sees that usage has returned to normal and sustainable levels. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
